Hundreds of Enfield council homes are set for a major energy-efficiency overhaul, with more than 400 properties due to benefit from improved insulation, upgraded roofing and walls, and newly installed solar panels.
The scheme is backed by a combined £12 million investment, including £5 million in government funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and over £7 million from Enfield Council’s capital programme.
The works will focus on homes currently rated poorly for energy efficiency, with over 380 properties expected to move up to a significantly better EPC rating. Residents living in the upgraded homes could save up to £110 per year on their energy bills.
To minimise disruption, the retrofit works will be scheduled alongside other planned maintenance.
This initiative forms part of the Warmer Homes London partnership, which brings together City Hall, London Councils, and boroughs to tackle fuel poverty and meet citywide environmental targets.
Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, Cabinet Member for Environment and Placemaking, added:
Enfield Council reports that over 94% of its housing stock already meets the Decent Homes Standard, and this latest funding will push the borough closer to ensuring all homes meet or exceed that benchmark by the end of 2025.
